Where Tradition Took Its First Step
Lala Mehar Chand Ji – My honourable great-grandfather began his journey in the year 1900, travelling from a village in District Una towards Shimla.
Initially, he started with poori, chana, and halwa, prepared using pure desi ghee. Over time, even the British developed a fondness for Indian flavours, enriched with tradition and authenticity.
Soon, the name Lala Mehar Chand Ji became well known for its exceptional taste, and people fondly began recognising the brand as Mehru Halwai / Mehru’s.
